The survey data will provide an understanding of how residents get from place to place. This understanding will help us plan improvements to road and transportation facilities for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and public transit users.
The 2022 Origin Destination Survey asks questions about how and where people travel. We will ask questions about your household and the types of trips made by each person in your household. This will include where and how the person travelled, when they travelled to this location, and the purpose of the trip.
Here is a sample of some of the questions:
About your household
- Type of Dwelling (house, townhouse, or apartment)
- Number of people living in the household
- Number of vehicles available for personal use
- Number of bicycles
About each person
- What is their age?
- Do they have a driver's licence or transit pass?
- Where is their workplace or school?
About each trip made by each person on the previous weekday
- Origin and destination of the trip (from where, to where?)
- Departure time
- Reason for making the trip (e.g. shopping, work, school)
- Mode(s) of travel used (e.g. walking, cycling, transit, motor vehicle)
- For transit trips, how they got to the transit stop and the route(s) taken
We will only be collecting trip information for persons 5 years of age or older.
A trip is a one-way journey from one location to another by any form of transportation, whether driving or riding as a passenger, walking, cycling, or taking public transit.
